Volvo Owners Endorse Crash Avoidance Technology in IIHS Report
Not only do Volvo owners value their vehicles' advanced crash avoidance
technology but, according to a survey by the Insurance Institute for
Highway Safety (IIHS), most current owners would want crash avoidance
technology on their next vehicle. Survey results were published today in
IIHS's Status Report newsletter under the headline, "Volvo owners give thumbs-up to crash avoidance features."

Volvo Car Group in 2012 New products and developments for future growth
During 2012 - a year of economic recession in global markets and great
challenges for the car industry - Volvo Car Group (Volvo Cars) took
several strategic steps which will be of high significance to ensure the
future success of the company. The company continued to follow the
strategy for future growth despite a challenging business environment.
New products were introduced in the market, significant investments were
made in future vehicle technologies and the company entered strategic
partnerships in several areas. Volvo Cars also adapted to the general
downturn in the car industry by adjusting its operations in line with
customer demand.

Five million Volvo cars built in Ghent
Volvo Car Group's plant in Ghent,
Belgium, has now built five million cars since it started operating in
1965. "This is a milestone for the entire Volvo Car Group. Five million
cars is a landmark achievement," says Lars Wrebo, Senior Vice President
Manufacturing at Volvo Car Group.
The
fifth millionth car was a Volvo V40 D2 that rolled off the assembly
line in Ghent at the end of 2012. The almost 5,000 plant employees got
to sign their names on the car, and today it is on display at the
Brussels Motor Show.

Volvo S60 chosen as IIHS Top Safety Pick+ New safety award recognizes 2013 models with superior crash protection
The Volvo S60 sports sedan can add
another award to its list of accolades after the Insurance Institute for
Highway Safety (IIHS) announced the winners of their new Top Safety
Pick+ awards.
Volvo Car Group research partner in newly opened Chinese-Swedish research centre for traffic safety
Apart from Volvo Cars, the other research partners in the project are
Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg, Volvo Group, the
Chinese Ministry of Transport's Research Institute of Highway and Tongji
University in Shanghai. The governments of Sweden and China will
contribute to fund the Research Centre.
