In 2012, a new market situation affected by economic uncertainty in Europe significantly impacted sales and earnings for Volvo Cars. During the second half of 2012, Volvo Cars focused on re-balancing its cost base around the new sales environment, while continuing the long-term investments needed for the transformation process of the group.

Doug Speck, Volvo Cars' senior vice president marketing, sales and customer service, made the announcement at the New York International Auto Show, indicating the new V60 will come to the U.S. market in early 2014. Pricing and specifications will be announced at a later date.
The V60 R-Design on the auto show stand marks the global debut of the R-Design version of the car. It projects an elegant, curvy and sculptured appearance that equally straddles luxury and performance.

Volvo Car Group's new engine family VEA (Volvo Engine Architecture) will be launched this autumn with world-first i-ART technology that helps to cut fuel consumption in the new diesel engines.
By featuring pressure feedback from each fuel injector instead of using a traditional single pressure sensor in the common rail, i-ART makes it possible to continuously monitor and adapt fuel injection per combustion in each of the four cylinders.
